Margaritaville - Raffia Hat

It’s five o’clock somewhere, so (y/n) throws her hair in a low messy bun and dons her raffia boater (this one) before heading to the hotel bar. The bartender is attractive in a lazy way, and while (y/n) isn’t interested, the bartender’s sideways smile does somehow add to the ambiance. (Y/N) orders her margarita with extra salt, and at the last moment decides to get some fries, too. They smell fantastic. The bartender says they’ll be right out, so (y/n) heads off to find an open chaise lounge next to the pool. She finds the perfect one without any effort and spreads out her towel. The sun is warm and direct, but not roasting. There’s a cool, consistent breeze carrying bits of conversations on that deliciously salty air. There are no children around, only adults acting appropriately. They acknowledge (y/n) with a half smile and a nod when she makes eye contact, but she feels no pressure to make small talk. She settles into the chaise as her margarita and fries arrive. She tips generously, then takes a long pull from the margarita’s straw and licks the salty rim with her tongue. (Y/N) settles back into the chaise lounge and tips her green raffia hat with the little gold lion over her eyes. She can’t remember a time when she’s felt more relaxed than now, wasting away in Margaritaville.

About the Process:
This boater hat is crocheted from green raffia. The brim is sewn double to maintain its shape, and the crocheted pom on top is securely attached. The gold lion door-knocker pin is removable (but honestly why would you want to take it off).
